Welcome Film Buds!
Film Buds is the name of our script-to-screen film camp geared towards teaching kids in grades 3 - 5 how to write, produce, and direct an original short film of their own! Classes are taught by a state certified teacher and curriculum is aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Students who enroll will have the opportunity to work together as a team to:

learn about pre-production (including storyboarding)

actually film their short movie

They'll even get to hear from actual film professionals currently working in the film industry here in Austin!

Meet the Teachers
Cynthia Cano
Anna Cano
Hello! We are Cynthia Cano and Anna Cano -- a sister filmmaking duo based in Austin, Texas. Together, we have 10+ years in the film industry here in Texas. We have worked on AMC's Fear the Walking Dead, Max's Love and Death, Out of Order Studios' The Chosen, and many more. In fact, we started up our own extras casting company as well.

So why a film camp? We wanted to take our expertise and passion for storytelling and help future young storytellers shape and develop their own stories. Before working full-time in the film industry, Cynthia was a state certified elementary school librarian working at Cox Elementary for Leander ISD. During her time there, she created an after school film club where students in grades 3rd - 5th were able to develop, write, and direct a short film of their very own! The kids were so creative and the experience was so much fun, that we decided to do it again -- this time, with a broader reach!

Our goal is to create a fun, engaging, creative environment where kids will learn to work collaboratively on completing a short film from concept to completion. We'll even have a premiere at the end! All of our lesson plans are based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and are closely aligned with the TEKS; and we are also planning on having a few guest speakers from the industry to help out!

REFUND / CANCELLATION POLICY
Things come up, and we understand!
If you need to cancel, you must email a cancellation request to filmbudsfilmcamp@gmail.com on or before February 17th, 2025. We will honor refunds (minus your $100 non-refundable deposit) until February 17th, 2025. After this date, all purchases are final and will not be refunded.
Should Film Buds need to cancel a session, purchasers will receive a full refund of camp tuition.
